Come Apart Before You Come Apart

It’s that time of year! We’re starting to plan our spring break trip. The kids will be off school and we work hard; so, let’s take advantage of the time and get away. It’s those weeks apart from the daily grind that keeps us refreshed, right? Imagine if we just keep pushing our schedules to the limit and never take that time off that’s so precious. Not only do we enjoy the time away from the normal pressures of life, but what awesome memories we make with the family during those times. Then not long after spring break, we’ll be planning our time apart for summer vacation.

We put a lot of thinking into those times apart. The benefits are plentiful and Jesus even spoke of the importance of time apart to rest when He said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)  Vacation, spring break trips and long weekends away from normal life can be great for the health of you and your family; but I also want to encourage you to be sure and take time apart from the daily grind to refresh yourself spiritually. No one and nothing can bring peace like time with Jesus. It’s much easier to plan than a spring break trip or summer vacation. Just take a moment each day to sit, share your heart with Him and allow your burdens to be lifted and rest to come. If you’re not sure where to begin, use the daily devotional that we provide as a starting point. It’s a great place to start.
