Hidden value
1 Corinthians 3:8 (NIV) Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.

I found a story about a man who was doing some cleaning. He went up to his attic and was throwing away a bunch of old junk.  Then he came across an old vase that he thought might be worth something. So, he brought it to an antique dealer who knew a little about these things. He was shocked when he walked out with a check for $324,000. It turns out that the vase was a piece of 15th-century art from the Ming dynasty. And all that time it had been sitting there in his attic.

There are people we don’t know of, who faithfully labor behind the scenes for the Lord.  But their Heavenly Father, who sees them in secret, will one day reward them openly. In fact, you might be one of those people.  Perhaps no one knows your name, or knows what you do. But you are faithful to what the Lord has asked you to do, trying to do the best with what He has given you.

So don’t be jealous of what someone else has.  Don’t worry about what God has called someone else to do, because you won’t be judged for that.  And they won’t be judged for what God has called you to do.  Be faithful with what God has put before you. Be thankful you have a life to use for God’s glory, and use it for Him.

You may think that what you do for the Lord doesn’t have any real value. But what is so valuable here will be worthless in eternity. And what may not seem valuable here may be priceless there when we stand before God. Just like the man who received the large amount of money for an old vase that was in his attic, you will find yourself rewarded in eternity for what you thought was worth nothing. You are valuable to the Lord. Nothing you do goes without being noticed and rewarded. Stay faithful to the things God has asked you to do. He’s watching.

Living the dream with you,

Starting This Weekend: Go Fish.
Jesus wants His followers to become fishers of men. God designed fishing to be simple by letting everyone in the same way. No matter where a person comes from or what they have been through, the process is the same.
The Bible is complicated, but salvation is not. God loved, God gave. We believe, we receive. That's what it means to have eternal life.
